Multi-hole converters have a number of advantages over their single-hole counterparts. They are less susceptible to flow disturbances and can be mounted in shorter installations. As such, they are frequently used in industrial flow installations. However, some of the advantages of single-hole converters also outweigh their disadvantages.
O2 nozzles are made of cast copper with precision machining. This helps the converter deliver higher entrainment of oxygen in the molten metal. In addition, the blow causes a three-phase dispersion, as shown in Fig. 2. This helps prevent the molten metal from being damaged and burnt.
